Turning 5, its a big deal, especially if your name is Silas! I was up early expecting him to be up first thing ready to rock the day. But nope, he slept in! I asked him what he wanted for breakfast, he said, "Nothing! I'm too excited!" He had helper day today at preschool and he loves to be the right hand man for his two favorite teachers. Along with his class he enjoyed some bug cupcakes, with ice cream and of course monster plates! Ok so mom, teared up when he blew his candle, what can I say I am so proud of this little man.
I knew 5 years ago, Silas was gonna be one stubborn, strong minded child! We went thru almost 24 hours of labor, with only a tylenol to take the headache away. He was gonna come when he was good and ready. Silas is the one lagging behind with his eyes up in the clouds watching for birds, and or nose to the ground watching for every creepy crawly he can find.
I am thankful for such a sweet boy who has a heart for all of God's creatures. Happy 5th Birthday Baby, its gonna be the best day ever! :)
I never thought i'd have 4 kids! But here I am 4 beautiful kids, 3 boys and a baby girl to complete our circle. Life can't get better than this.

Silas' Seattle Trip
We gave each on of the kids an option to have the usual birthday party, or to enjoy a special trip with just mom and dad. Surprisingly they each chose a trip! Silas turns 5 in a couple days and so his trip took place this past weekend. Being the middle child I can tell you he really soaked up all the special attention. We started out by touring the Seattle water front including the Aquarium, the Curiosity shop, ate lunch at Ivars and Pikes Market. He really enjoyed feeding the Seagulls and watching the fish fly at the fish market. That night we stayed with Josh's Aunt Katie. Silas had a lot of fun playing with Aunt Katie and his cousin Bailey. On Sunday we took him to the Chimpanzee Communication Institute in Ellensburg. We couldn't take pictures of the Chimps inside but we were lucky enough to catch one climbing the fence on our way inside. Silas absolutely loved this part of his trip. He sat through a workshop and learned all about chimps and their journey in learning sign language. He learned some basic signing that he was able to use with the chimps. Once chimp, Dar, really liked Silas. He kept pointing at Silas' shoes and asking Silas to show him his shoes! Dar sat nose to the glass staring at Silas. It was really the neatest thing! A special journey this was for the 3 of us, where we really got to enjoy the special boy he is and celebrate the 5 years we have been blessed with.

Our Miracle
So many times in life we pray for miracles. But as we know Gods plan for our life is often so very different then the desires of our heart. God has given me the greatest gift, the gift of motherhood. I had a miscarriage several years ago that was quite an experience that had me almost convinced to count my 3 blessings. But this desire so deep in my heart that moves me to tears just thinking about it, kept me believing that I was meant to have one more. Josh however, was not so easily convinced! I did every kind of research in how to have a girl! Let me tell you, there is some very interesting things out there. But I knew in my heart only God has that control. Then of course came the bargaining with God, you know we all do it! Please God just this one thing and I'll never ask for anything else! For 5 months I lived in this limbo, it was such a long 5 months! Poor Josh, I'd wake him in the middle of the night and share my fears and often my tears. The day finally came, a day like no other. The ultra sound technologist held one hand and Josh held the other and she said, It's a GIRL! I cannot describe my happiness, the completeness I felt. The joy I saw in my sons eyes and in Josh's eyes is a memory I will never forget. Now perhaps I can allow my fingernails to grow and start getting some sleep! Here she is, our Miracle.
